Wow!! Can you believe it, we are now well into our 5th month of the year 2011, May, the last month of Autumn named after the Roman Goddess of Fertility, Maiesta, it is also the month of the Emerald and also the Lily, one of the most beautiful flowers that we as naturists are blessed with in the gardens of nature that we visit.
I hope you all had an egg - cellent Easter and also well rested with our rather long Easter weekend, with all the holidays this year!!
Our Cape Winter seems to be knocking on our doorstep, but do we close our doors, NOOOOO!!!! We are naturists and naturists thrive in whatever weather nature has put out for us, just as the Lily thrives, beautiful, steadfast and pure white, truly one of natures most beautiful and miraculous creations.
First of all, a very warm welcome to our new members, who have been approved and are on the website, we hope that you will enjoy sharing the naturist lifestyle with us here in our Western Cape Naturists Organization.
Several pending members have yet to be approved before they can be activated and placed on the website, as you well know the approval process is a rather lengthy one, but this is purely to monitor our membership so that the integrity of pure naturism is adhered to.
The Committee has decided to award Honorary membership to Nico, Chairman of the Suntrekkers naturists association as well as to the Chairpersons of Sun Eden,Kiepersol and Harmony, all based in Gauteng.
The position of honor is not awarded to a specific individual but to the existing Chairperson of an Organization which represents pure naturism.
Our Quarterly Members Meeting:
Yes, it’s that time of the year again when we have our Quarterly members meeting where we all come together and air our views and, as I have said countless times before, put aside the perception of sensitivity, tell us what we are doing wrong, what you do not agree with, anything that has upset or offended you, no matter how small the issue may be.
Remember we are a relatively young organization with a first time Committee, this is something new to all of us, we are bound to make a mistake, but were we not taught at some time in our lives that you learn by your mistakes and we will learn by our mistakes, if we know about them, so please attend our members meetings and let us hear your voice!! Details of our Quarterly members meeting as well as the Agenda for the meeting have been posted on the website.
Remember, the achievements of an organization are the results of the combined effort of each individual!!
Our Annual General Meeting:
September 2011 and WCNA will be ONE year old, which means that it’s time for our Annual General Meeting where members will have the opportunity to cast their vote for a committee of their choice.
Some may say it is still early days but before we know it the AGM will be upon us, so we must start thinking of nominations even if it is 4 months away.
Please place this event as high priority for early September as many important decisions will be made at this meeting.
We have not set up a date as yet but it will be early in September, we have our monthly Committee Meetings on the first Tuesday after the 10th of each month which will then be 13 September, we will however finalize the date and venue well in advance.
Committee Member Resignations:
We have had two resignations in our Committee these last few months due to work related issues.
Johann Steyn was nominated and appointed by the committee in place of Gideon Visagie.
Johann and his wife joined WCNA on the eve of 2011 and now a Committee member, great stuff Johann, welcome to the team!!
Jp. du Toit also resigned due to a heavy workload, his position has not been filled as yet, anybody interested???
Our Western Cape Summer is starting to close the door on our outdoor events but we sure can look back on a well organized and certainly well attended summer program, thanks to the organizers and last but certainly not least, a huge Thank You to YOU, the members, thanks for the support guys!!
All the detail of our Summer events were placed in our April Newsletter, but just a short recap for our new members:
Our Summer launch day event at the home of G&A, A Christmas present day event around the pool at L&B, the New Years Eve Bash at A&D, the Badensfontein camping weekend in Montague and the Olive Glen Farm weekend in the Du Toits Kloof Mountains, not to mention the mid month Sandy Bay day events.
Fantastic venues, brilliant weather and most important, amazing People!!!
Gansbaai Weekend Event: 27 - 29 May, 2011
As I said before, although the Cape Winter is already giving us a taste of what’s to come, we have a weekend event arranged for 27 - 29 May.
A large 10 bedroom sleeper house with ample communal sleeping quarters which Aimee has arranged. She has posted all the details on the WCNA website. When making a payment for an event or any other payment for that matter, please, please arrange an Electronic Fund Transfer as bank costs are becoming expensive and an EFT is cost free.
A closing thought:
In the time that I have been a member of WCNA I have seen our naturist lifestyle foster amazing friendship, body acceptance and unencumbered relaxation among our members.
To me, and I am sure to all of us, naturism sure is a wonderful and healthy freedom to enjoy, but it is you, the members of WCNA, that make that statement a reality!!
