“Somewhere over the Rainbow, skies are blue and your dreams that you dream will really come true”
(My apologies to the memory of Judy Garland, I changed the words slightly!!)
I love rainbows, for the feelings I have each time I see them.... relishing those beautiful, lustrous colours, leaving something cloudy behind, and starting a shinier period of your life!!
Life is like a rainbow, you need both the Sun and the Rain to make its colours appear!!
Friends are similar to a rainbow; they brighten your life after the storm.
Like the Winter months, 2011 is a memory and we are now well into the 2nd month of 2012, which means it’s still SUMMER TIME, when the weather is always fine, (most of the time!!!) especially in the Western Cape, the jewel of South Africa!!
Even when the Cape Doctor is on the rampage, yes, a Natural aircon, our very own contemporary South Easterly wind!!!!
Our Cape Summer season did not start off with the usual Cape summer weather expectations, but January certainly gave us a taste of real Summer weather with heat waves prevalent all over the Western Cape, especially in the Boland area, with temperatures reaching deep into the 40’s, nevertheless, it is Summer and like the Rainbow that comes out after the Winter storms, wherever we are, it is our WCNA friends and family that make our naturist world a world worth living in!!!
Is this not a great time to be a true naturist in our WCNA world!!
May yourbe Abundant with the colours of the Rainbow!!!!!
OKAY Brothers and Sisters, It’s sure been a long time since we have exchanged a few words, really, has it been that long since we have had a Newsletter, was it September, WOW!!! I must admit that really was some time ago and I bet you have all been thinking, “ What the hell has happened to our Newsletter since September and to top it all we have decided to publish our Newsletter on a quarterly basis this year, BUT this is purely to give you a more informative Newsletter...........
WERE WE ON STRIKE????
No, not on strike at all, on the contrary, and yes, I know it’s been some time since our last Newsletter, but then again I am sure you must know what that means............. we have been busy!!!!!!
Yes, your Committee has been working around the clock with our Fantastic New Website, New Member Administration, Membership Cards and need I remind you that in WCNA a couple is recognized as a member, so the R200 annual membership fee remains R200 and not R400, don’t we deserve a smile now!!!!!
Then there was the Registration as a Non Profit Organization, which took longer than expected and necessitated a Special General Meeting to conform with the statutes of the Department of Social Development and don’t forget, all the arrangements for our fantastic Summer Events, so, let’s get started.........................................:
First of all, since our last AGM, we have had a huge number of people requesting access to our website and as per WCNA protocol, all applications were handled in the prescribed manner, which then, as I said, substantiates who are the Bona Fide true naturists.
This year alone 10 Married and 3 new members were interviewed and accepted into our organization and on behalf of our Committee I would like to welcome you our naturist lifestyle where you will experience friendship, family, body Acceptance and unencumbered relaxation.
Most of the new members are already on the website; please use the Friend Request facility which will make them feel at home and also part of the family.
Please note that all applications are exclusively screened, which means that a personal profile is required followed by an interview and then discussed at a committee meeting, so applications may seem tedious, but this is done to identify the true naturist and also to uphold our naturist values.
Thanks to our Chairman, and his printer / laminator, the membership cards have now been completed. Members who have not received their Membership Cards must please contact the Chairman as soon as possible.
The cost of the Membership Card is included in your annual subscription Fee.
OUR NEW WEBSITE:
All the gremlins have now seemingly been eliminated and as everyone slowly but surely becomes accustomed to the various pages of the website, it will soon be second nature to log in, open the different blogs and post your comments.
NON PROFIT ORGANIZATION:
More good news is that we have at long last now been accepted by the Department of Social Development as a Non Profit Organization and registered as NGO Number: 098745.
THE INTERNATIONAL NATURIST FEDERATION:
WCNA is now a direct member of the INF and their Yellow INF logo appears on your membership card, which will allow you a variety of exclusive offers when visiting INF member clubs /resorts worldwide.
Log on to their website www.inf-fni.org and browse through the multitude of naturist venues, whether it is a Spa with full amenities or a remote camping retreat, the INF-FNI website can provide you with all the details that will make your naturist experience memorable.
You must have your card with you to take advantage of these offers and it must be current and valid.
World Naturist Day 2012:
The INF-FNI has announced that World Naturist Day is to be celebrated on Sunday 17 June, 2012. This is an annual event in which naturist clubs world wide hold events and invite non members to experience the naturist lifestyle.
June is our first month of Winter in this part of our world and outdoor events could be limited, but I am sure that, together with the management of the VasnatResort, we can arrange a likeminded event at their exceptional naturist paradise.
VIGLA NATURA (Vasnat) SPA RESORT in the Helderberg area of Somerset West:
The exclusive complimentary preview of the Resort, that was granted to WCNA members by the Vasnat Management, Mark & Samantha Taylor, who are also members of WCNA, was arranged for 03 December 2011 and wet off well with 40 members attending.

The actual opening of the Vigla Natura Spa Resort was scheduled for 10 December and was open to the public from 10am, 60 people attended, including the Media, to whom our chairman, gave a short commentary on the values of naturism, good words Mr. Chairman, well done!!!!
The Vasnat resort has proved to be a huge success, thanks to the owners, Mark and Samantha Taylor for their hard work and especially their dedication to naturism, in creating a first-class naturist paradise on the “doorstep” of WCNA, a first for the Western Cape, well done guys!!!!
OUR 2011 / 2012 EVENTS PROGRAM:
Juggling around our mid month Committee meetings and also a Special General Meeting which was held on Saturday 19 November, 2011, at the Vigla Natura scenic Spa Resort in Somerset West, our Summer event program has really been active and lively since the start of Summer in 2011!!
An aerial view of the picturesque Vigla Natura Spa Resort in Somerset West.
A special word of thanks to the owners, Mark and Samantha Taylor for the courtesy extended to WCNA in granting us access to the Resort whenever we need to have our monthly meetings.
Romanskraal outside Riversdale
Our Summer Event Program kicked off with a weekend visit to Romanskraal, outside Riversdale on the last weekend of November, 2011. Unfortunately the weather was not ideal for a camping event and was not well attended, but nevertheless the members attending said that they are naturists and naturists accept whatever nature has to give!! Well said guys, spoken like true naturists!!
Remember what I said about the Rainbow, it takes both the Sun and the Rain to make its colours appear!!!
NEW YEARS EVE BASH (OLIVE GLEN FARM / DU TOITS KLOOF):
As we counted down the minutes and watched as 2011 faded away and a new year was born, this worldwide fabulous moment was enjoyed with our WCNA family, including several new members in the majestic Du Toits Kloof Mountains at the Olive Glen Mountain Farm near Paarl.
A Special word of thanks to the Ladies who made up the entertainment lounge and also to P for the appetizing homemade cheese platter and her husband N, for his generous supply of braai wood.
Thanks also to R&A for the brilliant photographs, not only of the New Years Eve Bash, but also of ALL our events, thanks again R for making those wonderful memories come alive with your photographic expertise.

OUR CAMPING WEEKEND AT BADENSFONTEIN OUTSIDE MONTAGUE:
WCNA once again arranged a weekend at the Badensfontein camp site in the Breede River Valley, approximately 7 km out of Montague, gateway to the Klein Karoo, which is another one of our Western Cape's fantastic wine producing regions.
We had a fantastic attendance, one of our largest in recent memory, with over 50 members attending!
We had members and guests not only from the Cape Town areas, but also from Kiepersolkloof, East London and George. The weather was great, and the rural relaxed atmosphere ensured a perfect weekend, but it was the camaraderie among everyone, members and guests alike that, once again, enhanced the values of true naturism.
The “other side” of your Committee Early morning in the Badensfontein Camp Site.
Badensfontein is truly a kaleidoscope of scenic tranquillity, the perfect place to unwind and as all the members said, leaving was our only disappointment!!!
With such a great attendance, members and guests alike, the Badensfontein Event sure was a wonderful way to celebrate naturism together as a huge “WCNA family” and to illustrate our appreciation, WCNA would like to invite you and your naturist friends on Saturday 25 February, 2012, as from 12 midday to 12 midnight, for a complimentary visit to the Vasnat Naturist Resort in Somerset West.
The theme will be in the form of a “Bring & Braai”, with WCNA supplying the braai wood and Vasnat the braai facilities.
We would require members and visitors to purchase all drinks from the Vasnat bar and not bring their own liquor.
The vineyards are a hive of activity down here in the Western Cape, all the different grape varieties are now in the process of being transformed into that flavoursome liquid that has been familiar to mankind since time began, BUT, this hive of activity also means that we are edging closer to our Cape Winter season and judging by the rather “mild” February temperatures, Winter could be closer than we expect.
Also, please take note that the Sun beds by the pool are for residents only, however the other 12 Sun chairs under the surrounding trees will be put on the lawn for WCNA members to use. Extra chairs are available if needed.
There is no entrance fee, Somerset West is just around the corner from wherever you live in Cape Town, pack what you would have in any case prepared for your Saturday braai and let’s enjoy another fantastic WCNA family day in the beautiful landscaped gardens of the Vasnat naturist paradise.
Let’s see if we can exceed the January Badensfontein Attendance on 25 February!!!!!
And in closing, let’s talk about contributions to our newsletter!!!
Please share your naturist experiences with us, how you were introduced to naturism, and your experiences as a naturist, also most important, your suggestions and comments on this naturist organization that you have chosen to be a part of!!
After all, thats what our newsletter is all about, naturist news, but, as in any news article, the views and opinions of the members, are equally important, be it contentment or discontent, yes, we want it all and if we get it all, we will always have a newsletter to look forward to.
